This boho inspired senior session is giving me all the feels!
Senior year is a significant milestone in a student’s life, filled with cherished memories and the anticipation of new beginnings. What better way to celebrate this chapter than with a breathtaking boho-inspired senior photoshoot? The bohemian aesthetic embraces freedom, creativity, and a sense of adventure, making it the perfect theme to capture the essence of this transformative period. Let’s take a look at a few things I did to style this session!
I Embraced Natural Elements: Boho style is all about embracing nature, so obviously, we wanted to shoot at the ranch. We shot amidst the persimmon forest, a blooming meadow, and underneath a century-old oak tree. This natural setting will provides a captivating backdrop, allowing my subject’s beauty to shine against a serene environment.
Wardrobe and Styling: Bohemian fashion is characterized by flowing fabrics and a mix of textures. Long, flowing dresses, floral prints, lace details, and fringe accents are popular boho-inspired wardrobe choices. Layering accessories like stacked bracelets, statement rings, and flower crowns can add an extra touch of whimsy and bohemian flair. We added a flower crown and a disco ball for some extra fun!
Play with Lighting and Filters: Lighting plays a crucial role in creating the right ambiance for boho-inspired photos. Soft, diffused natural light, especially during the golden hour, can create a magical and ethereal atmosphere. I experimented with different angles, shadows, and backlighting to capture the essence of bohemian beauty. Post-processing with warm and earthy tones enhanced the dreamy and nostalgic feel of the images.
Natural Elements: In addition to the natural setting, incorporating nature-inspired elements can enhance the boho aesthetic. Fresh flowers, whether worn as a crown or held in hand, can infuse a sense of romance and femininity. Wildflowers and tall grasses can be used creatively to add depth and texture to the shots.
It’s All About Movement: Bohemian style is rooted in a carefree and authentic spirit. I encourage my seniors to let go, express themselves, and move naturally during the shoot. Candid shots capturing their laughter, twirling in a flowy dress, or simply enjoying the moment can bring out their unique personality and create genuine and captivating photographs.
